AR Rahman stands firm against Subhash Ghai's anger: You're Paying for My Name, Not Just My Music

Ram Gopal Varma shared a confrontation between AR Rahman and Subhash Ghai during the making of 'Yuvvraaj'. Varma cited Rahman's tendency to delay music delivery, leading to Ghai's frustration, prompting a strongly worded letter demanding the music for which he had paid crores. RGV recounted how Ghai confronted Rahman at Sukhvinder Singh's studio, suspecting him of assigning the music to someone else due to pressure. Rahman calmly responded, asserting that Ghai was paying for his name, not just his music, highlighting the subjective nature of creative work. Notably, Rahman's composed response impressed RGV, who lauded his clarity and confidence.
